Breakout variant
By Bjørn Lindeijer

Here is my entry for the Pixelate Games Competition. It's not really finished, but playable. I know there are already lot of breakout variants, but still I liked trying to create my own. Especially since I figured it could use a particle engine, particle engines are fascinating.

I do think I forced the game too much into the particle engine thing. Everything including the background stars, the blocks, the ball, the pad... but also the level and game handling systems are particles. The only thing the main the main program does is create a new particle engine instance and put a StarField particle and a BreakoutGame particle in. Then starts the main loop, which calculates the time passed since the previous loop and calls the update and draw functions of the particle engine.

Anyway, have fun trying this game out... and maybe peeking into the source a bit.

Known problems

Some Windows users might have to replace GFX_AUTODETECT with GFX_DIRECTX. Do this when the game runs in a window and with strange colors.
